Don’t we all feel the push/pull of conflict and miscommunication? I personally don’t like it, but I also know it seems to happen even when I’m working hard to avoid it. This is why Jenn Whitmer is here with us today.
Jenn, a self-proclaimed recovering conflict-avoider, has 20+ years of experience leading groups from classrooms and schools to volunteer groups and — hardest of all — herself.
She holds graduate certificates in music education, theology, and leadership along with a Master of Arts in communication and culture from Webster University, extended training in conflict resolution, and certification as an Enneagram coach. She asks big questions that lead to wild dreams and connected ideas and joyful flourish.
We are constantly communicating. Literally all the time. And we are constantly making meaning. Our brains are hard-wired for it.
And yet how many times this week did miscommunication happen? And how much time and angst did it cost?
But communication is more than making sounds into words. Using researched-backs skills, you will learn the power of CLEAN communication served with clear steps, implementation practices, and a side of laughter.
Presentation takeaways:
Describe the cost of miscommunication with qualitative and quantitative data.
Identify the process and purpose of communication (and no, it’s not just sharing information).
Determine the five steps to stop miscommunication before it starts. Keep it CLEAN.
Clarify what steps to take when miscommunication occurs.
