Kim Hunt knows what it means to show up when life falls apart — and more importantly, she continues to learn not to just show up well, but to actually Be Well. In 2017, Kim’s world shifted in ways she never anticipated. Within weeks of one another, she lost one of her closest childhood friends and her beloved father. A self-described daddy’s girl, Kim was navigating profound grief while simultaneously stepping into an extraordinary calling: Instant Motherhood. She inherited three of her friend’s six children, becoming an instant mother to the three youngest, ages fourteen, six, and two, while remaining a central part of the support system for all six. She was simultaneously opening her home to another family in need and navigating an unexpected job loss. There was no slow transition, no time to catch her breath. Life arrived all at once, and she had to decide how she would meet it.
What carried her through was a foundation built long before the storms came. Grounded in faith from an early age, Kim accepted Christ at twelve and has carried that foundation into every season of her life. Shaped by a family legacy of Sunday School teachers and decades of ministry service, she serves in several ministries at Living the Word Church. She believes that prayer is not a last resort — it is a powerful gateway to the renewal and transformation that makes being well possible.
Her commitment to community wholeness extends beyond the church walls. Kim is the founder of Saving Black Minds (savingblackminds.org), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to restoring the village — equipping families and communities with the tools to thrive educationally, financially, and vocationally. Over nine years, the organization has provided thousands of school uniforms and hygiene supplies to hundreds of families in need. She also serves as Program Facilitator for It’s A Queen Thing, a girls; mentoring program dedicated to uplifting the next generation of young women.
Professionally, Kim serves as HR and Workforce Development Manager at Inspired Solutions, a certified Woman-Owned federal IT contractor — leading both a team of Training Coordinators and the organization’s full HR function. The servant-leadership that defines her ministry and community work is evident at every level of her professional life.
Today, those children are grown and thriving — a testament to the village Kim refused to let fall. And Kim Hunt, mother, servant, nonprofit founder, and HR professional, is living proof that you can walk through the fire and still choose to Be Well. Guided by her favorite scripture, Luke 1:37, she holds fast to the belief that with God, nothing is impossible.
