Diverse teams can have a direct effect on the growth and long-term success of your business. Studies show that companies who are leaders in diversity and inclusion hiring had a 28 percent higher revenue and double the net income and 30 percent higher economic profit margins. In addition, companies are being held to high standards when it comes to ethical and equitable hiring practices. Join us to learn how to identify pitfalls in your hiring process, and how to find new and hidden talent by leveraging social and community strategies. We’ll discuss actions and next steps that will help you identify new sources of diverse talent for your team.

Maureen Hergenroether is the Founder of Fairstart, a social enterprise startup that pairs high-quality overlooked talent with great companies. Fairstart aims to advance workforce diversity by shining a light on people that are often systematically excluded in the hiring process and may face barriers to securing a career. Fairstart helps candidates uncover transferrable skills, their strengths and interests, and matches them with appropriate job opportunities.

Prior to Fairstart, Maureen spent 15 years working for Fortune 500 companies and also served as the Executive Director of an education nonprofit. Her experience in the corporate citizenship, DEI, and community engagement fields fueled her passion to bridge the gap between employers and talent that is often excluded due to access and bias. She serves as the board secretary of the Job Seeker’s Garden Club of St. Louis and volunteers with several organizations teaching underserved communities career development skills. She holds a master’s in Communication from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and a bachelor’s in psychology from Missouri State University.
