Getting Ahead of the Holiday Hustle

About this time of year I start bracing myself for the season ahead. The chaos, the excitement, and think about the best way to prepare myself for the holiday whirlwind that hits soon (And it seems to be starting earlier and earlier every year! ) and I know we all feel it.
As we’re about to dive into quarter four and go from Halloween straight through Thanksgiving, Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa, and New Year’s, it’s easy to feel like we’re on an endless treadmill of “go, go, go!”
So let’s talk about how we can be proactive and keep that feeling of choice and calm in the mix.
Tip 1: Be Intentional with Your Time
You don’t have to say yes to every single holiday event. Be intentional. Choose the gatherings that truly matter to you and that fill your cup. That way, you’re showing up for those who show up for you, and you’re not running on empty.
This was a hard one for me to learn but I’m putting quality before quantity!
Tip 2: Build in Downtime for Yourself
Remember, it’s okay to schedule downtime like it’s an important meeting. Put it on your calendar! A little pre-planned self-care can go a long way in preventing burnout.
Remember – downtime can be impactful at just 15-30 minutes.
Tip 3: Be Thoughtful with Gifting and Support Local
Gift-giving doesn’t have to be a mad dash. Think ahead and consider supporting local small businesses – many of which are run by fellow WEW members. It’s a great way to make your gifts meaningful and to support our community at the same time.
I plan to be more intentional with service-based-business gifts this year or donations to organizations in the name of someone.
Tip 4: Plan Ahead When You Can
Try to handle a few things early – whether that’s shopping, meal planning, or just setting aside a little “me time.” This way, you’re not scrambling at the last minute and can actually enjoy the season rather than just survive it.
Hint: Start NOW.
I’d love to hear your own tips too! Let’s all share ways we can keep the holiday season joyful and not just stressful. After all, we’re in this together, and a little preparation can make a world of difference.
