TOPIC: Drop The Skirt – How My Disability Became My Superpower

WHEN: Thursday, May 4, 2023, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. CST

Amy was born with an incurable disorder called lymphedema that left her immensely disfigured. Her right leg was 200% larger than her left leg. She lived feeling alone for a long time. Through lifelong adversity with her disability, she developed an activist mindset as she feverishly fought to better her quality of life through medicine, nutrition, fitness, and faith. Against all odds, her journey led her to overcome the worst known severity of lymphedema, and she now manages it with minimal maintenance. She left the corporate world to pursue her calling to be a voice for those with disabilities and live a philanthropic life.Today, Amy is a global advocate for lymphedema awareness and education. She is the founder of Rivera Hybrid Solutions, a company that specializes in distributing innovative compression bandages for lymphedema patients. She is also the founder of Ninjas Fighting Lymphedema Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides support, education, and resources to individuals with lymphedema and the author of DROP THE SKIRT-HOW MY DISABILITY BECAME MY SUPERPOWER.

In this presentation, Amy will share her story and offer valuable lessons on how we can all turn our struggles into strengths and make a positive impact in the world. Whether you are living with a disability, facing adversity, or simply seeking inspiration and motivation, this presentation will offer you a new perspective on how to overcome challenges and achieve your goals. So join us and let Amy’s story inspire you to create a more inclusive and compassionate world for everyone.

Presentation takeaways:

1. It’s important to be aware of our self-perceptions and how they may be holding us back.

2. Sharing your story is that it can be a powerful tool for connection.

3. Our identity is not defined by a single title or label, but by the complex interplay of our experiences, beliefs, and values.
