ConnectWorking Do’s and Don’ts

We’ve got an exciting first half of the month ahead, packed with opportunities to show up, grow your network, and deepen your connections. Before you scroll down to mark your calendar, let’s take a moment to talk about the difference between selling and connecting.
At Women Empowering Women, we believe networking should feel good. Think along the lines of discovery, collaboration, and possibility – not pressure, forced sales or a hard pitch. So here’s a quick reminder of what it looks like to truly build meaningful connections:
Connection vs. Pushy Sales: A Quick Refresher
Do this:
- Ask questions about them before sharing about you
- Follow up with a friendly “Let’s grab coffee!” not a “Here’s my sales link”
- Share value or advice based on what someone needs
- Say things like:
- “I’d love to learn more about your business!”
- “How can I support what you’re working on?”
- “I may know someone you should meet!”
Skip this:
- Pitching your service before you even ask their name
- Talking at someone instead of with them
- Using every intro moment as a sales opportunity
- Saying things like:
- “Let me tell you what I sell…”
- “You’d be crazy not to sign up right now.”
- “Everyone needs what I offer.”
Now that we’re back to basics – ready to connect the right way? Check out what’s coming up in September in the list below.
Let’s keep creating spaces where women feel supported and connected and not sold to. I always say, “Build the connection and the business will follow.” See you soon at one (or more!) of this month’s events!
Thanks again for being part of this amazing community.
