Freedom from Fear: A New Way to Connect

More and more new faces walking into our chapter meetings. Some of them found us through social media. Some showed up not knowing a soul in the room. But what unites them all is a simple, beautiful need: real connection.
Let’s be honest, networking can feel intimidating. That’s why I rarely use that word. Around here, we call it connectworking – because that’s what we’re truly doing at WEW. We’re not just exchanging cards. We’re building strong bridges. And those bridges lead to opportunities, friendships, and a lot of unexpected joy.
While many groups require exclusive membership or restrict by industry (and hey, that’s smart business), that’s never been our path. For 11 years, WEW has remained open to everyone. We added a membership option only because you asked for more ways to connect – but our chapter meetings will always be free and welcoming, for as long as I’m leading this mission. Because this isn’t a job. It’s a passion. It fills my cup. And I hope it fills yours too.
If you’ve been thinking about attending but you’re hesitant, here are a few go-to tips to help you walk in with confidence:
- Look for the leader — arrive early and connect with one of our amazing leaders, she’ll be there to greet you with a smile. Ask her to introduce you to others.
- Spot the sparkle — see someone with fun jewelry or bold shoes? Compliment them. It’s the perfect icebreaker.
- Use your curiosity — ask: “What brought you to WEW?”, “Have you made any connections through WEW?” or “What’s one thing you’re excited about this month?”
- Start with heart — share a personal win or ask for advice. Authenticity is magnetic.
- Stay after — some of the best conversations happen when the meeting is over.
If you’ve been attending for a while, be that warm welcome someone else needs. We don’t always realize the courage it takes to walk into a room alone. Let’s make sure no woman ever feels alone at WEW.
And if you’re still unsure, reach out. Let ME help you take that first step. Because I fully believe in the transformative power of connection—and it starts with you.
Thank you for being part of something so meaningful. Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or you’re brand new, your presence matters.
