They Said It Wouldn’t Work… But Women Showed Up.

Have you ever been told your idea was too big, too ambitious or that it just wouldn’t work? Me too.
Over the years, I’ve heard that Women Empowering Women couldn’t thrive in certain cities. That women wouldn’t show up. That our approach was “too flexible” or “too different” or “bad business”. And time and time again, I’ve watched that narrative get flipped on its head. When women are offered truly AUTHENTIC connection, collaboration, and grace… they show up.
This month, we got to witness that again with the launch of our newest Riverbend chapter. Alton, IL once had a small but loyal WEW community before the pandemic paused everything. Since then, we’ve had so many women asking when it would return, but we couldn’t find the right leader.
Until now.
Thanks to Kassidi (our amazing current Edwardsville chapter co-leader) encouraging Tara to step into leadership, our Alton chapter is back, and it’s already thriving. In fact the goal is so big they encompassed the whole Riverbend area.
And guess what?
Women showed up. In droves. With open hearts and open minds.
So if someone has ever told you you can’t, I invite you to hear this instead:
You absolutely can.
And if anything is holding you back from attending a meeting this month – whether it’s your to-do list, the mom taxi schedule, the guilt trip we too often give ourselves – – LET IT GO.
Make space for this.
For yourself.
For community.
For other women who need to meet you.
Make it non-negotiable.
